Ingredients

  • 12 green apples, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
  • 1 (12-oz) package frozen raspberries
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (more to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)

Directions

Step 1 — Combine in slow cooker: Add apples, raspberries, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using) to the slow cooker crock and stir to combine.
Step 2 — Cook low & mash: Cook on Low for about 6 hours, until the apples are very soft and mashable. Use a potato masher or an immersion blender for a smoother sauce, or leave slightly chunky for texture. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more brown sugar or a sugar substitute after cooking.
Step 3 — Store & use: Transfer to jars; refrigerate (keeps about 7–10 days) or freeze portions for up to 3 months. Serve warm on hot cereal, yogurt, pancakes, or straight from the jar.

Cook’s Note: You can omit nutmeg if you prefer. For a no-sugar version, sweeten post-cook with stevia or honey to taste.
