Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F / 45°C)
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/3 cup margarine or butter, melted
- 4½ cups bread flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2½ tsp bread machine yeast (or active dry yeast)
Filling
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2½ tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
Icing
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 (3 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
Directions
Step 1
Place milk, eggs, melted margarine, flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in bread machine pan in order recommended by manufacturer; run dough cycle. (If mixing by hand, combine, knead until smooth, and proof per Step 2.)
Step 2
When dough doubles, turn onto lightly floured surface; cover and rest 10 minutes.
Step 3
Roll dough to a 16×21-inch rectangle.
Step 4
Spread softened butter over dough evenly; sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
Step 5
Roll from long end into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch pan, cover, and let rise until nearly doubled (~30 minutes).
Step 6
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake 15 minutes until golden.
Step 7
While baking, prepare icing: beat powdered sugar, butter, cream cheese, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
Step 8
Spread icing on warm rolls and serve.
Cook’s Note
Use bread flour and proper kneading for that chewy, airy texture Cinnabon is known for. For extra gooey centers, add a thin layer of cream cheese filling before rolling.
