Whiskey-Free Bananas Foster Recipe — Non-Alcoholic Irish Bananas

Whiskey-Free Bananas Foster delivers all the caramelized, buttery warmth of classic Irish Bananas but uses apple cider (non-alcoholic) and vanilla to mimic the rich flavor — excellent with vanilla ice cream.

Prep Time: 5 mins • Cook Time: 10 mins • Total Time: 15 mins • Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup non-alcoholic apple cider (or non-alcoholic whiskey alternative + 1 tsp vanilla)
  • 4 large bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and apple cider; stir and bring to a simmer until sugar dissolves and mixture is syrupy.
  2. Add banana halves cut-side down; simmer gently 2–3 minutes until glazed and warmed through. Flip carefully and cook another 1–2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and spoon warm syrup over bananas. Serve immediately over scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Cook’s Note

  • For deeper caramel notes stir in ½ tsp vanilla or a pinch of ground cinnamon. Use a non-alcoholic whiskey substitute if you want the flavor profile without alcohol.
