Whiskey-Free Bananas Foster delivers all the caramelized, buttery warmth of classic Irish Bananas but uses apple cider (non-alcoholic) and vanilla to mimic the rich flavor — excellent with vanilla ice cream.
Prep Time: 5 mins • Cook Time: 10 mins • Total Time: 15 mins • Servings: 4
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- ½ cup non-alcoholic apple cider (or non-alcoholic whiskey alternative + 1 tsp vanilla)
- 4 large bananas, peeled and halved lengthwise
- Vanilla ice cream, for serving
Directions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar and apple cider; stir and bring to a simmer until sugar dissolves and mixture is syrupy.
- Add banana halves cut-side down; simmer gently 2–3 minutes until glazed and warmed through. Flip carefully and cook another 1–2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and spoon warm syrup over bananas. Serve immediately over scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Cook’s Note
- For deeper caramel notes stir in ½ tsp vanilla or a pinch of ground cinnamon. Use a non-alcoholic whiskey substitute if you want the flavor profile without alcohol.
